Three times Open champion Tiger Woods is to compete for the Claret Jug when this year’s event takes place in Carnoustie in July. It will his third Major of the year, having played the Masters, and this week’s Players Championship.
Woods played little competitive golf in 2016 and 2017 – a stretch that included a 16-month lay-off while he recovered from back surgery.
So far he has found consistency hard to find in his comeback year. Although finishing second in the Valspar Championship in March, this has been the only stand out result so far this year.
