It took England’s Paul Waring a sudden-death playoff to notch up his first European Tour win in 200 attempts.
He took the Nordea Masters title after overcoming South African Thomas Aiken at the Hills Golf Club.
Injury-prone Waring started the final round tied for the lead and was only forced into a playoff when Aiken birdied the last. But just one playoff hole later Waring was declared the winner.
‘It’s 200th time lucky, isn’t it?’ said Waring after the win. ‘I’ve been through a few ups and downs in my career with injuries, some good golf played. To finally get across the line, I’m absolutely ecstatic’.
The top three in the 47-tournament Race to Dubai remain unchanged. Italy’s Francesco Molinari is in top spot followed by American Patrick Reed. England’s Tommy Fleetwood is in third place
