Without taking a backswing, try to drag the ball into the air,” said Brady Riggs, a well-known golf instructor in Southern California, according to Golftipsmag.com.
Control Your Hooks & Slices
If you’re a golfer you’ve certainly experienced your fair share of hooks and slices. Maybe both!
But how can you help fix those issues to give yourself the best golf swing?
Pay attention to your hands when you strike the ball.
For those that hook the ball, be sure that your thumbs are pointed down when your club face makes contact with the ball.
If you tend to slice the ball, it’s the opposite. You want your thumbs down when you hit the ball!
Change Your Body Position
Even the most seasoned golfers are challenged by body positioning during their swing.
The address position in golf is important for when your body makes contact with the ball. If you are too loose or too stiff, you will see it in your shot.
Take it from one of golf’s most well-known professionals, Rory McIlroy.
“You’d think I’d be able to get into a solid address position without thinking, considering the tens of thousands of swings I’ve made in my lifetime. The truth is that it’s as easy to fall into bad habits here as it is in any other part of your swing. So I work on my address every time I practice,” McIlroy told Golf.com.
McIlroy added this inside tip as part of improving your golf swing.
“Settle in so that your arms hang freely and are far enough in front of you to whip the club through the impact zone without your body getting in the way,” he said, as quoted in Golf.com.
